New Things

What's up, sorry I posted lately, but I've been working on bigger and better things. I'm working with a new group on an Unreal project, Project Mecha Recon. I can't go into many details, but it is an interesting first-person stealth game. If anyone is interested check out or progress reports every know and then at Project Mecha Recon. I'm also working on a professional website to show case my work. When its finished, I'll post that link.

Progression 8 Last

My character is complete and she turned out okay, but the light really took away from the model. After I revise certain images in the process book I will post it for you all to see. I lately be starting another series of models centered around this game I'm conceptualizing now (details stay hush hush), but those have to wait until I take care of some pc issues. Here are render for Arque.

Progression 7

My character is in the final stages the lights and final texture are all that's left. I been throwing around the name Arque and Settiam, but someone told me the later sounds more royal than warrior, so I naming her Arque. I'm also looking at cutscenes from Mass Effect for lighting ideas and one of my original sources, X-Men Academy X, and a newer source, Claymore, for the HEROIC POSE. My biped for the character was pretty screwy, and that's putting it nicely, so I scrapped it and the new is in place and working. I started painting the unwrap a little before my last post, but I don't want to show you the whole texture its completed sometime tomorrow, but i'll show you what her face looks like before I go CrazyBump on her.
The white out area is her eyes. I still decided what color they should be. I want them to be an exotic color/s, leaning maybe light purple or a yellowish green. My next post will likely be my last for this project, but I'll likely start another blog for my personal projects.

Progression 6

Unwrapping is the biggest pain when capes are involved, and thanks its finally done. Now that all the uv's packed I need to add a biped for "strike a pose session" all characters need. I started modeling weapons for the character (now known as Arque). Since she is a warrior, I'm giving her all swords of varying size (5 to be precise). When I find a HEROIC POSE I like I'll post an image of it or them, but more then likely they will be something along these lines...

I have a few more, but I don't want to post them until I can source them.

Progression 5

Armor up. Here is my character in full armor with a her cut. For some reason I really like flowing/draping cloth on light armor. I even added a half cape (the coolest of all capes), courtesy of Villetta Nu of Code Geass. I will still be adding little tweaks here and there, but those will have to wait until I see her unwrapped and texture.

Progression 4

I just hit my half way mark for my main character model. She still doesn't have a name, but I'm leaning towards Arque. Right now, she still nude ;) and headless (those are in separate files). Thanks to a friend I got some really good tips and new reference materials. He also showed me two artist who are scary good, Paolo Eleuteri Serprier and Nico di Mattia. I'll post another image of her in full armor once I finish it.

Progression 3

Sorry about the late post true believers, I'm about half way done with all my with my warrior woman model. When I reach the halfway mark I'll post an image for all to see. So for now you'll have settle for these Cyclops Renders as promised.

Progression 3

I started making final preparations for my female warrior model. I was directed to a site that literally has every body type, even fat chicks. :) If anyone is interested here's a LINK. Akira Gomi my hat bows before you, FAT CHICKS :). I also found a kick ass Wonder Woman character sheet, so I figure share the wealth, but don't know who made it.
And for my Marvel Comics brethren, you are not forgotten, here's something you might like, The Spymaster. I used this to make a low poly Cyclops character (Scott Summers not the one-eyed monster, HA innuendo) for a Torque project. If anyone is interested in seeing the low poly Cyclops model let me know, it is getting lonely out here.

Progression 2

I revised my early "sci-fi" concept to be more fantasy themed by combining both my original character outlines described in the Progression 1. My new female character is from the warrior class and is clad in leather and plate armor. My references for this character are Paine (Final Fantasy 10-2), Urya Ishida Quincy Release costume (Bleach), Carmen99 (Gun X Sword) and various medieval armor and mage garb.

Progression 1

For this project, I chose to model a female fighter class character. My early inspirations were Rogue (X-Men 90’s cartoon), Surge (X-Men Academy X), Priscilla (Gun X Sword), and Cammy (Super Street Fighter 4). She would play the role of the informant/manager to the main character similar to the roles of Guardian Angel from Borderlands or Trish from Devil May Cry. For this characters selling point, I want her to use poison stingers as her main weapons. I like idea of using poison as a weapon because it opens up a variety of gameplay options should she become a playable character. I thought of using poison from the Jet Li film Kiss of the Dragon and inferring it to Assassin’s Creed II.

A second idea I came up with was to do a female warrior class character. My inspiration for this character type was Saber (Fate/Stay Night) and Busujima (High School of the Dead). I’m not quite sure what role she would play in a game, likely a leadership role with plenty of responsibilities. I came up with this idea while reading the High School of the Dead manga, for some reason I related it the characters from Drakengard 2 and Fate/Stay Night and thought that a character mixed and matched with knight and samurai armor would look interesting.
